Responsible for assisting the teachers with classroom routines such as mealtime, toileting, naptime, and cleaning. Supervise and interact with children during program time. Greet parents at pick up and communicate general information about their child’s day. Ability to assume leadership of the classroom in occasional absence of co-teacher. Maintain a clean and safe environment. Requires occasional flexibility in room assignment as dictated by the needs of the program

Education/Experience:
Required: High School Diploma and 18 years of age
Preferred: Formal experience with children, some classes or training in early childhood education.

Position Summary: Responsible for maintaining classroom and overall program quality and providing excellent child care for families of diverse backgrounds. Responsible for planning and providing learning experiences for children which reflect an active learning philosophy and Developmentally Appropriate Practices (NAEYC 1987). Responsible for helping the children become independent, self-confident, enthusiastic learners. Responsible for the health and safety of the children.

Education/Experience:
Preferred- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Minimum-Related Associate Degree.
Preferred 1-2 years of Experience working with young children in a similar environment

Substitutes:

Ithaca Community Childcare Center (IC3) is now hiring substitute teachers. Must enjoy working with young children 8 weeks- 11 years old. Substitutes are used on an on call basis Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm and may work in our infant, toddler, Pre-k, or after school programs. If there is a day or part of a day that you can’t work we won’t call you. It may be a pre-scheduled shift or may be scheduled the night or morning of the shift. Availability M-F 12:00-5:30 two or three days per week preferred. High School Diploma required. Experience working in a school, preschool, camp or child care setting preferred.  $16.25/Hr.
